Stellar® is an open-source whole-system architecture that offers leaders a frame for the design of strategies that are both aligned with an enterprise’s unique value-creation capability, and optimally adapted to our world of complexity. Stellar® is an instrument and process that is in successful use within many companies around the world, from the smallest start-up to major multi-nationals.

Stellar® was independently developed – it was not originated within, attached to or dependent on any university, institution or other organisation. The core frame of Stellar® was co-developed by Angus Jenkinson and Richard Leachman in 2002, and in 2004 they were joined by Kathelijne Drenth. Stellar® is open source, available for all to use free of charge and without obligation.

Stellar Ltd was formed to own the trademark Stellar® on behalf of all future practitioners, with the purpose of preventing others from preventing practitioners using the name ‘Stellar’. Stellar Ltd no longer accredits or certifies practitioners of Stellar® – accreditation or certification in the practice of Stellar® is now the responsibility of those consultancies which offer their own trainings in Stellar®. So far more than fifty consultants have been trained in Stellar.

The majority shareholding in Stellar Ltd is owned by the Stellar Trust, a non-profit-distributing company whose trustees are Richard Leachman and Kathelijne Drenth (see www.thetwelve.eu). Angus Jenkinson owns a minority shareholding (see www.stepping-stones.org).
